Catching Carp in the Snow at Lac du Val

Winter carp fishingDave with a fine 20 caught in the snow
Call it mad but last week I decided to have a days fishing here at Lac du Val.
Enduring -1 to -2 °C freezing snow, with eyes and nose running both at the same time I managed to catch 3 nice carp and Terry my pal managed 2.  So 2 x thirties and 3 x twenties – not a bad result I’d say!
Sausage butties and Ovaltine provided by Sammy did make things a little more human!
Also with thanks to our new bait.  Believe me lads carp do still feed in cold water.  I have tested this by feeding our carp once a week in the margins, where I could see if it disapeared.  And it did! So I shall be out again this weekend…. wish me luck!
Ps; Yesterday Sammy and I went out and bought a new flat screen TV and Dvd for the lakeside dinning room.
Best Regards, David & Sammy

Bumper Day of Winter Carp Fishing at Lac du Val

Terry with a fabulous winter carp from Lac du Val
On deciding to fish for a day for a break after 14 days constant work in rain, rain and more rain, I contacted my mate Terry and asked him to join me, he agreed with not much hesitation.
We conmenced at 9am in horrible fog and rain and my first run came at 9.55 on the new 2012 bait.  I had decided to wrap the paste around a cork ball & this really worked well as we finished off the day at 6.15pm with 3 x 40s, 5 x 30s and 4 nice 20s.
12 cracking fish thanks to Shaun’s new bait for us in 2012.
Another day in paradise!
Regards, Dave

Lac du Val’s final carp stocking for 2012

Lac du Val ‘s final stock fish have just been put in our stock pond ready for March / April movement into the main lake.
These 36 beautiful mirrors arrived on Saturday 14th Jan and are hand picked fish farm stock.
The largest was 37lb 8oz and the smallest 27lb 7oz and all lovely fat fish in fantastic condition.  So this brings the total to 52 new carp for 2012.
I’m hoping the first lads on will help with the netting of the stock pond to rehome them into the main lake.
